Dioxin & PCB Analysis: Everything You Need in One Convenient Guide
Apr 18 2013
Dioxins and PCBs are by-products of several different industrial processes, and belong to the group of compounds known as Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). They are known to bio-accumulate due to their lipophilic nature, and several of these compounds are severely toxic. Monitoring for these pollutants in environmental samples has become increasingly important; and, their emission into the environment and food chain is strictly controlled. Samples that are analysed, amongst others, are foodstuffs like fish, fish feed, and stack emissions from waste incineration sites. For example, in areas where fish is a major source of the diet, dioxin levels can be 100,000 times that of the surrounding environment.
Supelco (USA) has put together a 16-page brochure specifically for Dioxin & PCB analysis. It contains analysis and product information for sample preparation, gas chromatography, and air monitoring; as well as the complementary media, resins and solvents. The guide is a comprehensive reference tool for anyone performing Dioxin and/or PCB analysis.
