Portable FID Now Available with On-Board Logging and Increased Sensitivity for Low Concentration Applications
Feb 03 2015
Building on the success of the original MiniFID, the Pure, from Signal Group, represents an evolution in design for portable FIDs. Existing users will be pleased to see the familiar robust case and straightforward operation now combined with some new options for configuration including a catalytic air purifier for zero air and an on-board data logger.
The standard method for generating zero air for the FID flame and zero calibration on portable models is to use a carbon scrubber cartridge. However, this is not effective for low concentrations of methane in ambient air and requires replacing on a periodic basis. Signal now offer the option for a heated catalytic air purifier instead to provide a more stable baseline and more sensitive readings when using the 0-10ppm bottom range.
The new MiniFID also has the option of an on-board datalogger. This means that instead of having to transport and connect a separate box, and that’s once you’ve sourced or made the cable to connect it to the analyser, you can simply use your laptop via a USB connection to configure the settings and then leave the analyser in place measuring, and logging, for up to a month. There is then a very simple download, from which the data can be easily exported to Excel or other programs for analysis and reporting.
John Clements, Managing Director says, “With the new MiniFID our objective was to continue with the reliable reference method detector we’ve always used for our FIDs and the successful design for the transportable case, but to upgrade the user interface and features to what you would expect for sophisticated equipment in the 21st century. Our customers expect reliable, consistent and compliant results, we wanted to give them a modern user experience too”
The MiniFID, along with the full range of Signal products, is available to purchase or hire through Signal in the UK, or their range of worldwide distributors.
