Air Monitoring
Continuous Ammonia or Nitrous Oxide Measurements
Feb 04 2013
LSE Monitors (Netherlands) is proudly presenting new high quality field equipment for continuously measuring the concentration of ammonia or nitrous oxide in ambient air. LSE Monitors BV is a joint-venture between the Dutch companies Synspec BV and Sensor Sense BV. Sensor Sense is a young spin-off company from the Nijmegen University and is powerful in developing new commercial concepts for measuring trace gases. Synspec is a well-established company, strong in the development and sales of sensitive VOC analysers.
The technology in their analysers is based on photoacoustics with a quantum cascade laser (QCL). If NH3 or N2O is present in the sample gas, the modulated infrared light generated by the QCL induces pressure waves in the measurement cell, that are detected by small microphones. The combination of high intensity laser light and sensitive microphones results in extremely sensitive measurements (low ppb range). Because the measurement volume is small, a fast response time can be guaranteed, even at low gas flow.
