TCR Tecora's Double Constant Flow Sampler Nominated for Award at AQE 2022
Oct 25 2022
At this year’s Air Quality and Emissions (AQE) conference in Telford, a number of awards were given out for excellence in various aspects of air monitoring. To learn a little more about their products, partnerships and why they come to AQE, EnvirotechOnline took a walk around the exhibition floor to talk to some of the nominees.
We asked Andrea Ceolin, Sales Director at TCR Tecora, to introduce us to their unique double-constant flow sampler, the Bravo Duo, which was nominated for the Most Innovative Instrument, Product, or Digital Solution award.
“As with pretty much all of our products, the Bravo Duo was a request from our customers; from a request, a product is born. What they wanted was two samplers in one box.
When you are lifting a stack, the fewer individual components there are, the more comfortable it will be to pick up. So, two samplers in one box. But it’s not enough; it aims to fix a very common but serious problem that occurs during main-stream and side-stream sampling. When I am sampling two gases at the same time, one pump may be running at twenty litres per minute, while the other might be going at one litre a minute. When I switch on the pump, the twenty litre sampler will suck all the gas from the one litre sampler, unless you have a balanced system that controls the pressure lines of both to avoid any difference in pressure. If this difference does happen, the liquid inside the impingers starts to travel in the opposite direction and you will damage the filter, damage the sampler, and you will have to restart the sampling. That’s why it’s very, very important to avoid this.
There’s another technical thing; that is, the ratio between main-line and side-line. Ideally, you want to keep this ratio constant – if the main goes down, the side goes down, too. As far as we know, this was not possible in any sampler before the Bravo Duo.”
Then, we got Andrea’s thoughts on this year’s AQE and why TCR Tecora felt it was worthwhile to make the trip over from Italy to attend.
“The feeling outside the UK is that AQE offers a very, very important perspective on the emissions and ambient sampling industries in Europe. It started small, but it’s becoming very important - people are really starting to know about AQE. It’s concentrated in one place, this is the benefit, everyone in our field is here, so that’s why we are here.”
