H2scan Receives Multi-Analyser Order from British Petroleum

Nov 16 2010

H2scan Corporation (USA) announce that the BP Cherry Point refinery in Washington State selected multiple HY-OPTIMATM Hydrogen Process Analysers integrated with the NeSSI™ platform system for their analyser upgrades. H2scan’s analyser, based on Palladium-Nickel alloys and proprietary molecular coatings, have been operating successfully at the BP facility in the first stage recycle compressor in the hydrocracker unit and have shown good performance in a high percentage, harsh contaminant (H2S) and multi-component process gas mixtures in comparison with traditional process analysers.

Integrated with state-of-the art modular Intraflow NeSSITM sample substrates provided to H2scan by Parker Hannifin, H2scan analysers will provide real-time measurement without the need of valve switching, frequent calibrations and is designed to save considerable retail space in BP’s analyser shelters. H2scan’s success with BP provides a good example of widespread acceptance of H2scan’s miniaturised and advanced analyser technologies in oil refineries.

BP’s Analyser Engineer, Ryan Holgate stated, “H2scan participated in a competitive bidding process with gas chromatographs over the past year and was selected based on a series of factors including performance, cost and maintainability.” The sample system design was finalized between H2scan, BP contractor CH2M Hill, Parker Hannifin and Gasalarm Systems, a Texas-based integrator contracted by H2scan.

“H2scan’s miniaturised process analysers are an excellent fit for our modular Intraflow NeSSITM platforms. We expect to extend our collaboration to several analyser projects in the future,” stated Steve Doe, Parker Hannifin’s Analytical Market Manager.

H2scan’s President and CEO, Dennis Reid said, “Being awarded this contract from BP and being able to utilize the experience and capability of companies like Parker Hannifin and CH2M Hill is extremely rewarding. The process has been seamless and we are on schedule to deliver the full multi-analyser and control system on-time. We are thrilled to be working with BP and are confident the partnership with our two companies will continue to expand the reach of our analysers.”
