New Modbus RTU communication capabilities brings renown sample gas cooler into the digital age

Instrumentation technicians analysing environmental parameters or for process safety and optimisation rely on robust and dependable communication between the field devices (such as the sensors and analysers) and the control system to keep their operation running smoothly.

Until now, the TC-MINI sample gas cooler, from Buehler, has operated with the globally recognised 4-20 mA analogue protocol of communication, as well as potential-free status output. However, this sample gas cooler now features the Modbus RTU communication protocol to cater for the rapid digitalisation of industry. The system is connected through an RS485, 2-wire interface, giving the operator access to process and diagnostic data and the capability to control the devices’ configuration through the Modbus RTU protocol. The new sample gas cooler also allows access to operation hour outputs and controller utilisation.

The TC-MINI sample gas cooler is ideal for deployment in the most portable or compact gas conditioning systems thanks to its small size. This unit may not be big in size but it has high nominal power and is perfect for use in warm climates.

The TC-MINI’s new digital communication and functions enables direct access to process and diagnostic data and operators can easily set or reset parameters during operation. The current cooling block temperature can be read out easily while operators can configure menus settings remotely – for example cooling block set-point and activating or deactivating the gas pumps. Users can now monitor output of controller utilisation, as a percentage, to evaluate performance in cooler conditions as well as the operating hour outputs to ensure the least disruption from maintenance intervals.

This additional new digital option only adds 35 Euros to the cost of the sample gas cooler – a small price for efficient digitalisation and the extra capabilities it has to offer.

The option "Digital output Modbus RTU" is now available for the sample gas coolers TC-MINI with a surcharge to the device of only 35,00 €. The ordering information and other useful information can be found on the product page and in the data sheet.
