Tips given to improve air quality and reduce CO2 emissions

People around the world have been encouraged to do their bit to improve air quality and reduce their carbon emissions, it has been said.

According to a report by Laura Roberts in the Telegraph, there are a number of things energy consumers can do to reduce the effects of climate change.

In the home, the writer recommended fitting loft insulation, putting in double glazing and upgrading boilers, as these can all help to lock energy into the property and reduce the amount householders use.

She stated that as car travel accounts for the greatest amount of CO2 emissions produced out of all transport in the UK, drivers can make a significant impact by changing their usage habits.

Ms Roberts suggested making fewer journeys and driving in more energy efficient ways. These include changing gears at lower revs, not leaving the engine running and avoiding using air conditioning.

Earlier this month, the RAC Brighton to London Future Car Challenge took place to encourage the use of low-carbon emission vehicles, such as the Toyota Prius hybrid.
