Incinerator firm moves to ease air quality concerns

The German company behind a huge new incinerator project in Plymouth has moved to allay fears over a reduction in air quality in the area.

MVV has submitted a 3,000 page report documenting details of how the firm plans to go about air monitoring, while other areas such as visual implications and noise pollution have also been covered, the Herald reports.

Residents have voiced their concerns over the effect of the waste disposal plant, with particular grievances aired over the potential increase in traffic in the area.

The company has suggested that an additional 334 vehicles could be added to the roads because of the complex.

This is due to deliveries of waste and the chemicals required to control the volume of pollution leaving the chimney.

Plans have already been put in place to extend the main tower, after locals requested that emissions were released as high up as possible.

MVV secured its first plant in the UK earlier this year, after striking a deal believed to be worth nearly £800 million with local authorities in Plymouth, Devon and Torbay.
