ATMOS (France) has developed a range of instruments for cloud cover monitoring based on a passive infrared technology. This range called (Cloud Infrared Radiometer) includes CIR4 (time series device) and CIR 13 (scanning device). These instruments have been deployed in various locations around the world for various purposes, from regular weather forecast, up to Atmospheric stability class in Air Quality applications. A scanning unit called CIR-M for cloud monitoring has been released and will be available to provide water contents of the atmosphere.
