Product innovation in automated sample preparation

With the ICprep series, Analytik Jena presents a new sample preparation solution for the analysis of sum parameters such as AOF/EOF, TF/TOF and the separate determination of the halogens fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine. The leading manufacturer of analytical technology thus offers laboratories with both low and high sample throughput an efficient and flexible option for standard-compliant sample preparation using pyrohydrolysis.

With the new ICprep series from Analytik Jena, sample preparation for ion chromatography and other ion-selective detection methods, such as ISE (ion-selective electrode), photometry or HR-CS MAS, becomes easy and cost-effective. ICprep impresses first and foremost with its sophisticated technology, a versatile range of applications and the high throughput speed of Analytik Jena products.

When combined with Analytik Jena elemental analysers, multi EA 5X00 or multi X 2500 elemental analysers, application solutions are created that can be tailored precisely to the customer's individual requirements. Laboratories with low sample throughput choose the Basic version. In the Automatic version - equipped with a fraction collector – automated digestion is possible for up to 100 samples in one sequence. This is particularly beneficial for industrial and contract laboratories in the fields of environmental analysis, process safety and product quality assurance. It is also valuable for research institutes and government agencies focused on environmental impact, recycling and renewable energies.

In synergy with Analytik Jena's APU series, ICprep offers a comprehensive solution for the entire process of AOF sample preparation. From column adsorption or solid phase extraction (SPE) for aqueous samples to pyrohydrolytic combustion, the systems ensure precision, efficiency and reliability at every step.

The sample preparation system works with a unique flame sensor technology that ensures quantitative and soot-free combustion of organic matrices. This safe matrix-optimized combustion prevents system contamination and erroneous measurement results. AOF samples are not contaminated due to the complete and direct combustion without prior carbon ejection. Users of the new ICprep sample preparation series can therefore rely on maximum operational safety and reliable work with fewer repetitions.

Regardless of the type and quantity of the sample, ICprep offers outstanding flexibility. The system is designed to work with different sample types and effortlessly adapts to different applications. With the Multi Matrix Sampler (MMS), both liquid and solid samples can be dispensed. Even untrained personnel can switch between sample types in less than five minutes. In addition, ICprep can be easily integrated into an existing Analytik Jena system. This allows the user to expand the range of applications without having to invest in more laboratory space or additional equipment. ICprep offers an extremely wide range of applications, covering the preparation of samples for the determination of AOF, AOBr, AOI, AOCl and CIC-AOX as well as EOF up to TF and TOF. Samples for the separate determination of halogens (F, Cl, Br, I) and sulphur can also be easily processed with ICprep.

ICprep can be used to carry out sample combustion after pyrohydrolysis in accordance with AOF sample preparation according to DIN 38409-59 and EPA 1621 and sample preparation for the determination of halogens (F, Cl, Br, I) and sulphur (S) according to ASTM D8150, ASTM D8247, ASTM D7359 UOP 991, EN 17813 .

Its versatility makes ICprep an indispensable tool for comprehensive research and analysis projects where high matrix tolerance and throughput speed are required during sample preparation.
