Indoor Air Quality Monitoring (IAQ)
Indoor Air Quality Measurements with GASERA ONE FORMALDEHYDE
Mar 12 2018
Indoor air pollution measurements are done for occupational safety. Indoor air pollution consists of several elements triggering many problems for children, elderly and asthmatics. Measurement of indoor air pollutants such as formaldehyde, require sensitivity and reliability provided by the GASERA ONE FORMALDEHYDE.
Indoor air pollution consists of tobacco smoke, allergens carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, moisture, chemicals and radon. Air pollutants trigger raspiratory problems, eye irritation, lung cancer, headache, coughs, sore throats, chest tightness, breathing problems, skin rashes, dizziness, nausea, allergies, asthma, damages in liver, kidneys and nervous system.
Formaldehyde is a volatile organic compound (VOC). It is usually present indoors at low levels as a result of formaldehyde emitting materials and human activities in homes. Formaldehyde is an ozone precursor and classified as carcinogenic compound. Building materials, cooking, and tobacco smoking are sources of formaldehyde. Also many everyday products, such as cosmetics, furniture and detergents contain formaldehyde. High levels of formaldehyde can be found from new homes and homes with new construction.
The concentration levels above 100 ppb of formaldehyde can cause acute health problems. Formaldehyde is highly injurious to health but until today, it has been difficult to measure. Formaldehyde exposure is a special concern for children, elderly and people with breathing problems, such as asthmatics.
The GASERA ONE FORMALDEHYDE monitor enables selective real-time measurements of formaldehyde and it is designed to measure indoor formaldehyde concentrations. The analyser is sensitive, linear and it has a fast response time to ambient and indoor formaldehyde concentration changes. The GASERA ONE FORMALDEHYDE was field tested in static and dynamic conditions at a holiday and training center in Southern Finland. The indoor air formaldehyde concentration was recorded in several rooms. The measurements carried out in buildings showed clear differences in measured formaldehyde levels based on the building type.
