Indoor Air Quality Monitoring (IAQ)
Leading technologies drive contract wins for Air Monitors
Sep 26 2018
Visitors to AQE 2018 may be wondering how Air Monitors Ltd has managed to win so many contracts over the last year, but a trip to stands 51/52 will leave them in no doubt. The Air Monitors booth will be packed with the market’s leading air monitoring equipment, employing technologies that are in high demand.
The stars of the show will be AQMesh pods and FIDAS particulate monitors, both of which have featured prominently in recent major projects. FIDAS (Fine Dust Analysis System) provides information on both particle size distribution from 0.18 – 30 microns and on particle number in each size range. It also delivers continuous real-time simultaneous mass concentration measurements of TSP, PM1, PM2.5and PM10. Certified by TÜV and MCERTS, it is rapidly becoming the instrument of choice for monitoring ambient particulates. Importantly, FIDAS runs on low power, without air conditioning and uses no consumables; all of which deliver much lower running costs.
FIDAS Particulate Monitor
The FIDAS 200 operates with a volume flow of approx. 0.3m3/h and is equipped with a Sigmaâ2 sampling head, which enables representative measurements even under strong wind conditions. The sampling system includes a drying system that prevents measurement inaccuracies caused by condensation from high humidity, which means that it will continue to function correctly in misty or foggy conditions but without the loss of semi-volatile fractions of the PM. It is also equipped with a filter holder for the insertion of a plain filter (47 or 50 mm in diameter) which enables subsequent chemical analysis of the aerosol.
The MCERTS certificate (Sira MC16290/01) for the FIDAS 200 confirms that the instrument complies with the Performance Standards for Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Systems, and with the MCERTS for UK Particulate Matter. The FIDAS 200 also has type-approval to the Standards EN 12341 (PM10), EN 14907 (PM2.5) and is certified to the Standards EN 15267-1 and -2.
AQMesh
As a small, battery-powered, wireless, web-enabled air quality monitor, AQMesh is leading the field in low-cost monitoring; providing users with complete flexibility and ease of access to data. Sensor options include NO, NO2, O2, CO, CO2, SO2 or H2S, as well as PM1, PM2.5, PM4, PM10, temperature, pressure and RH. Data are stored in the ‘cloud’ offering users access to real-time data at any time, from anywhere.
Weighing less than 3Kg, AQMesh pods can be quickly and easily located in the locations of greatest interest; providing background data, finding hot-spots, or measuring the success of air quality mitigation measures such as traffic management, LEZs, CAZs, car-free days etc. As the name implies, AQMesh pods can be deployed in a mesh network; providing local air quality data at unprecedented levels of spatial and temporal definition.
Other leading technologies
Technologies for other key parameters will also be on display at AQE 2018, including Black Carbon monitors and direct NO2 analysers from both Ecotech and 2BTech. A new gas calibration technology featuring NO/NO2, O2 and zero gas generation will also be shown requiring no gas cylinders or regulators.
Reflecting growing understanding about the relationship between outdoor and indoor pollution, several of the latest technologies for indoor air quality monitoring will also be on the booth. These will include the Gasera One photoacoustic multi-gas analyser, the In-Air Solutions portable BTEX monitors and the Ethera NEMo - aunique technology for sensitive and selective measurement of typical IAQ pollutants including formaldehyde.
Entry to the AQE 2018 Exhibition is free of charge and a warm welcome awaits visitors to the Air Monitors stands 51 and 52.
