Indoor Air Quality Monitoring (IAQ)
High Quality Air Monitoring Instruments for All Budgets
Oct 17 2008
For Local Authority monitoring the TEOM/FDMS combination is the ideal solution. A combination that provides much more information about the particulate make up than other systems. For this reason it is favoured by the majority of Local Authorities measuring particles and has, since the introduction of the TEOM, become an industry standard used on the Automatic Urban and Rural Air Quality Monitoring Network. Air Monitors has been to the fore in helping to develop and refine the instrumentation and the QA/QC procedures to ensure consistent reliable data capture.
Handheld particle monitoring has usually meant having to use a particle counter. The Lighthouse 3016 IAQ is a particle counter that also provides mass concentration over a range of 0.3 â 10 ìm based on a user selectable particle density. This instrument suitable for both indoor and outdoor surveys was used by both Sky News and ITN to provide their journalists with information about air quality in Beijing during the Olympics. You may even have seen it on News at Ten!
The 3016 IAQ is lightweight, easy to use and has a huge memory able to store information from 200 different locations! The data is output in an easily understood tabular format by both particle size and by PM fraction.
At a time when the number v mass debate is again quite active Air Monitors have introduced a simple cost efficient particle counter that has 8 size fractions. Already proven in theatres of war for detecting chemical and biological warfare agents the PARTAC has moved into the civilian and homeland security sectors in the United States. Manufactured by a very reputable company with a highly successful track record as a supplier of specialist particle monitoring instrumentation the PARTAC is now available in the UK. For Particle Counting as part of an Industrial Hygiene study or traffic related air quality survey the PARTAC offers a reliable and robust solution.
The key to the success of Air Monitors has always been â added valueâ. In this case the extra value comes from the PARTAC being compliant with the AQ WEB data acquisition software and reporting package. With the ability to integrate the instrument with a compact weather station to measure wind speed and direction which is so important when study particles. Watch out for other developments in this field!
As well as the real time instruments Air Monitors has a range of particle samplers including the Partisol 2025, a sequential gravimetric sampler with EU Equivalence, used in Defra operated networks. The range also includes the frmOMNI sampler from BGI. The frmOMNI is the only sampler to have USEPA certification for both battery and mains
operation. With its efficient pump and low flowrate this sampler can easily be run from a battery that is charged by a solar panel.
