Batley and Spen MP Jo Cox unveiled a plaque as Wakefield Acoustics (UK) officially opened its new state-of-the-art facility at Flush Mills, Heckmondwike.

Following the opening of the facility Jo Cox MP, the Mayor of Kirklees, Councillor Paul Kane, and members of Heckmondwike council, together with distinguished guests, were able to tour the new facility.

The new larger facility has a modern 40,000sq ft manufacturing plant, as well as offices. The move to larger premises will give the company the capacity to continue to serve its growing international customer base. It has also enabled the business to continue recruiting by taking on seven new staff from the local area.

Lee Nicholson, managing director of Wakefield Acoustics, said: “We are very proud to have officially opened our new facility, which signifies a substantial step forward for the company. I would like to thank both Jo Cox and the Mayor of Kirklees for taking time out of their busy schedules to attend what is a historic day for the business.

“The new premises will allow us to continue to serve our customer base, which has seen significant growth in recent years, as well as continue to hire more staff from the local area.”

With a strong growth plan going forward the company has invested heavily across all areas of the business within the last few years; and the new larger modern manufacturing facility affords the company significant opportunity to continue to expand and develop its manufacturing and engineering operations.

Wakefield Acoustics recently announced a healthy 50% increase in turnover since 2012, with plans in place to double turnover by 2018. Activity increased in a number of core markets, with orders growing across the board, while continued progress was also made in international markets such as the oil and gas sector.

Working with many of the world’s leading blue chip companies, Wakefield Acoustics has experience across sectors such as oil and gas, petrochemical, power generation, water and waste, recycling and general industry and infrastructure.
