New Equipment for Continuous Online Monitoring of Low Concentrations of Hydrocarbons in Water

Clean water and monitoring of water quality in general is getting more and more attention worldwide.
Synspec BV (Netherlands), has developed a water purge unit (WPU). The WPU in combination with a Synspec GC can measure hydrocarbons in water at low concentrations continuously online. For some hydrocarbons the detection limit is below 1µg/L.
Volatile organic components, for example aromatics, will be purged out of the water phase by the WPU to be measured by the GC. The result is an individual quantification of each component.
The majority of hydrocarbons specified in US EPA and EN Water safety regulations can be monitored with this new WPU-GC system.
For accurate measurements the airflow, temperature and flow of the water of the WPU are continuously controlled by the software running on the internal computer of the GC.
The main purpose of this WPU-GC system is to control industrial waste water or monitor the quality of surface and ground water.
