Discrete analyser provides easy and precise colorimetric analysis of water contaminants
Oct 15 2024
Skalar’s BLUVISION® discrete analyser delivers total automation for colorimetric analyses of water pollutants, including ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, orthophosphate, sulphate, chloride, and many others. BLUVISION® Discrete analysers provide low detection limits, an extremely high level of precision accuracies, and large sample capacity. The analyser also has a separate waste collection for environmentally harmful chemicals.
This highly advanced analyser delivers total “walk-away” automation, including automated sample and reagent pipetting into the cuvettes, mixing, heating, blank correction, and photometric measurement.
This discrete concept includes automatic re-analysis of samples from under or over-range concentrations. BLUVISION® Discrete analysers are exceptionally user-friendly and require minimal maintenance. The analysis methods conform to various international methods including NEN-ISO 15923-1, CMA/2/I/C.8, EPA, etc.
The BLUVISION® features 100 sample positions divided over five racks of twenty samples each. Sample volumes can range from 3.5 to 10 ml. For reagents, stock standards, and QC, the analyser has 24 positions of 50 ml and 8 positions of 10 ml. The sample and reagent racks can be cooled during the analysis run.
The analyser is equipped with a cuvette tray with 160 test positions. The cuvette blocks are automatically loaded into the temperature-controlled tray via an autoloader system, which holds additional cuvette blocks. Thus, the cuvette tray can run 640 tests without any human intervention.
The instrument uses a single needle, which can pre-heat the samples and reagents, to apportion them into the cuvettes. An extremely durable and high-precision pump pipette samples and reagents.
The disposable cuvette blocks eliminate any carryover between analysis tests. Spent cuvette blocks are stored automatically in a waste bin for safe removal. The BLUVISION® includes a separate waste container for toxic reagents, which is selectable according to the method. The cuvette's optical path length is 15 mms, enabling precise low ppb level detection.
The BLUVISION® Discrete analyser’s detector has a halogen light source and a filter wheel that contains eight filters with different wavelengths. The BLUVISION® can run more than eight parameters in one cycle unattended, and the filters can be easily changed for other parameters.
The BLUVISION® Discrete analyser is controlled using the integrated touchscreen display and a user-friendly, multi-tasking software package. It provides all the critical instrument information, including analyser status, real-time monitoring of reagent levels, remaining test capacity, and the temperatures of the cuvette and sample trays. Moreover, various tasks can be carried out via this display, such as loading cuvette blocks and changing filters.
The analyser uses a comprehensive software package, DiscreteAccess, to run the analysis, collect data, and calculate, complying with all current laboratory requirements. A user-friendly interface enables users to start the analyser in a matter of seconds. Each analysis run can be set up batch-wise or randomly. The CLP and 21 CFR part 11 compliant software provides simple sample data entry or uploads from LIMS, with pre-defined application files for nitrite, nitrate, alkalinity etc. Customised application files can be integrated, and user-definable reports can be generated with results exported to txt, excel file or LIMS. The system also optimises the sample sequence, automatically prepares calibration standards and performs automated pre and post dilutions and smart range selection.
