Endress+Hauser is Today`s World Market Leader for Electromagnetic Flowmeters
Sep 15 2008
31 years as the world`s number one producer of electromagnetic
flowmeters. In May 2008 sales of the devices topped the million mark.
Endress+Hauser is celebrating the occasion by supporting a water
project in Mozambique undertaken by the Swiss development organization Helvetas to the tune of CHF 50,000.
The foundation stone for the ongoing success story was laid as
early as 1977 when Endress+Hauser bought up Flowtec based in Bern,
Switzerland. The company relocated to Reinach in the canton Basel-Landschaft and from then on was called Flowtec AG. With just three employees, the company began its activities in a former military barrack â today Endress+Hauser Flowtec AG, the group`s centre of competence for flow measurement technology, employs more than 1,000 people worldwide.
Through innovative products, considerable investment in research and development, as well as future-oriented services, the independent family company has been able to gain the trust of its customers and continually increase sales figures. As a result, 500,000 electromagnetic flowmeters have been sold in the past seven years
alone. The founding of the production site in Cernay (France)
in 1991 has made a significant contribution to this success. Today
the majority of the company`s electromagnetic flowmeters are
produced there. The factory has been expanded in numerous
stages to its present floorspace of roughly 16,500 square metres,
making it the world`s biggest production facility for electromagnetic
flowmeters.
Universal application: In the industrial environment electromagnetic
flowmeters are today used primarily in water management, in the process industry, pharmaceuticals and in the food industry. The robust construction permits their use under the harshest environmental conditions: electromagnetic flowmeters are even frequently found in the mining industry.
Typical measuring tasks include recording and monitoring continual
flow rates, filling and dosing applications as well as use in custody transfer. A large number of aqueous-based fluids can be measured with electromagnetic flowmeters: water, wastewater, sludges, pulps, pastes, acids, alkali, juices, fruit mashes etc.
