Instant Handheld Oil In Water Monitoring
Nov 07 2013
Well known in the Oil and Gas industry for introducing new and innovative products since 1986, AMS Equipment Ltd (UK) is pleased to introduce the new Advanced Sensors handheld Oil in Water Monitoring Unit, the HD-1000, to the market.
Following extensive research and development, Advanced Sensors are now able to offer the same technology as used in their award winning and market leading Oil in Water Analysers in handheld form. Alex Sloan, director of AMS Equipment, comments: “This really represents a drastic shift in the market and opens many new possibilities and applications for this type of technology. Utilising the quick and accurate UV-fluorescence measurement principle removes the need for time-consuming solvent extraction and the potential for human error which is a part of current portable or desktop Oil in Water measurement methods. Using this new equipment technicians can instantly obtain reliable and repeatable results benefiting from the same technology as is already used in hundreds of existing Advanced Sensors installations worldwide. This has far-reaching implications for the industry and this unit is not only limited to Oil in Water monitoring. Thanks to the measurement principle, it can detect and measure any chemicals which fluoresce.”
UV-fluorescence allows users to obtain immediate, real time results of Oil in Water concentrations from 0ppm up to 3,000ppm, configurable in whatever range is required (0-1ppm, 0-10ppm etc). The unit is small, portable (0.8 kg) and easy to use with its probe attachment, coming complete with an optical spectrometer to detect for and mitigate the effects of different oil types and the presence of interfering chemicals, such as corrosion inhibitors, which themselves fluoresce and skew results. No solvent extraction is required to prepare your samples, simply take a sample, insert the probe and read your results. Accuracy is +/- 1% of measurement range and response time is <1 second giving continuous results. The touch screen allows for ease of use while features such as the on screen notepad and various ways of storing and sharing data (on board storage, WiFi, bluetooth, 3G, 4G, cloud storage, email and more) means that users will have a unit that is simple, easy to use and gives very accurate, instantaneous results.
