Mobile Gas Analysis for Pressure Lines

Jun 02 2013

With their new "Oxybaby P", Witt-Gasetechnik (Germany) have introduced a hand held portable analyser that determines the O2/CO2 gas levels in a pressurised supply line.

As many portable devices for gas analysis can only be used for low-pressurised test objects such as modified atmosphere packaging the gas pressure in supply lines is much too high for the sensitive measuring cells of the analyser. By integrating an ultra-compact pressure regulator in the newest version of its proven hand-held analyser, "Oxybaby", Witt now allows inlet pressures of up to 10 bar. Depending on the requirements, the Oxybaby determines the concentration of oxygen and/or carbon dioxide in a range of 0 – 100 %, and displays the results in increments of 0.1 %.

This opens up entirely new possibilities for quality controllers: The new version of "Oxybaby P" allows the composition of a gas mixture to be monitored at any location in the gas line as well as directly at the point of consumption. This will insure the accuracy of the gases before the gas consumer has been connected whether the line contains the required gas or whether the mixture has the correct concentration. The handling is very simple: The hand-held device and the extraction point are simply connected by a small hose. The version for the conventional G1/4" male thread with collar nut is included in the scope of delivery. Other versions are optionally available.

In addition to the system advantage, the benefits of the device include the easy, single-hand operation, the small size of the shock-resistant housing (approximately 18 cm), the long-lasting and fast-charging battery, the low weight (approximately 600 g) and the illuminated LCD display with intuitive user interface in several languages. Even at the maximum measuring range, the measurement itself takes at most ten seconds, must faster than Thermal Conductivity gas analysers.  The integrated circulating memory on the 6.0 models captures the results for 500 measurements. Data transfer to a PC for further processing is possible via a USB connection. Upgrades such as a bar code reader and Bluetooth are planned.
