Gas Detection
NDIR – a cost effective solution to gas sensing
Sep 14 2020
Despite a starting higher cost of purchase. NDIR sensors have a longer life time and need much less maintenance compared to MOS and other technologies. NET, one of the leading providers of NDIR firmly believe that, in the long run, it is a more cost efficient solution than other technologies.
A more high performance early leak detection is increasingly important for financial reasons especially in larger systems, due to the high price of refrigerant gases. It is estimated that in many cases the cost of refrigerant loss is now higher than the cost of a technician's time to repair a leaking refrigeration system.
New refrigerant gases have lower GWP values but the environmental aspect of gas losses in the air has always to be taken in consideration. For this many countries are starting to offer taxes reduction if the gas detection system fulfill certain standards of quality.
Other sensors need additional circuitry to be used and the instrument need to be calibrated with test gas. NET NDIR sensors are complete plug and play devices that can be replaced easily in the field without additional calibration.
