Certified Reference Standard Picoxystrobin (CAS# 117428-22-5) Available
Jul 25 2015
After more than 50 years of providing quality chemicals to scientists and researchers, Chem Service, Inc. (USA) now carries picoxystrobin (CAS# 117428-22-5) for the first time. Picoxystrobin is a fungicide that is used by a number of farmers internationally to help improve their yield and prevent costly diseases.
This fungicide is part of the strobilurin chemical family. Picoxystrobin, written chemically as C18H16F3NO or Methyl (E)-3-methoxy-2-[2-(6-trifluoromethyl-2-pyridyloxymethyl)-phenyl]acrylate, was first sold in 2001. It was created by Syngenta and called Acanto until DuPont bought the worldwide rights to the chemical fungicide in 2006 and renamed the product Aproach, according to Farm Chemicals International.
Picoxystrobin is now sold both as a single ingredient fungicide and as part of a mixture. It has emerged as a multimillion dollar product and is approved for use in more than two dozen countries including Brazil, Germany, New Zealand, South Africa and the U.K.
Picoxystrobin is absorbed into a plant's cells in about a day, which helps prevent against a number of costly fungi. It can help protect against certain fungal diseases such brown rust, tan spot, powdery mildew, and net blotch. This fungicide is especially effective on corn, soy, dry beans, canola and cereals.
Like all fungicides in its chemical family, picoxystrobin kill fungi by inhibiting their ability to breathe on a mitochondrial level. By stopping the cell's healthy function, the fungi cannot complete a normal energy level and are unable to survive.
