Aberdeen landfill sites 'to be regenerated'
May 20 2009
According to STV, the £15 million initiative will involve the Ness Farm and Tullos Hill sites, with authorities keen to reduce the environmental damage caused by them.
Aberdeen County Council is reportedly looking to reclaim some of the land and create an area for wildlife and local residents to enjoy.
"Included in the programme of work are upgrades to existing paths and the installation of information boards detailing the archaeology, wildlife and recent history of the site," the news provider stated.
The work will take around three years to complete.
Commenting on the plans, Lord Provost Peter Stephen said it is an important step for Aberdeen and will create more green space for people to enjoy.
In related news, the Irish government launched a new scheme last week to reduce the amount of recyclable waste the country exports.
