Thermal Environment Monitoring Systems
Jul 26 2012
Since the 1970s, LSI LASTEM (Italy) designs and manufactures a class-leading range of monitoring system to evaluate thermal environmental comfort and heat stress of its occupants. Systems consist of specialised, high-end instruments in compliance with ISO7726, to assess thermal environmental properties and software for the calculation of the most relevant comfort indexes: PMV Predicted mean vote, PPD Predicted % of dissatisfied, TO Operative temperature, DR Predicted % of dissatisfied by draught (ISO7730), heat stress index: WBGT Wet bulb globe temperature. Inside/outside (ISO 7243), PHS Predicted heat strain (ISO7933:2004) and cold environments index: ITR required thermal insulation (ISO 11079)
LSI LASTEM offers different solutions. With the compact M-Log, all sensors are linked via cable; the flexible R-Log, supports both cable and radio connection. With R-Log, monitoring capabilities are virtually endless: managing a very high number of sensors and monitoring several locations at the same time becomes easy and time-effective. Compatible with a vast catalogue of indoor air quality, light sensors and outdoor meteorological sensors for the design of full, all-in-one environmental monitoring systems.
System for on-line measurement of the WBGT index in different environments with radio communication from the sensors to the control room. This solution particularly suited for workplaces and environments requiring a centralised, real-time monitoring of heat stress. The basic unit is a WBGT-meter composed of a black globe and a wet bulb temperature sensor connected to a compact radio transmitter. Each unit transmits data to a master R-Log data logger directly connected to a PC or server for real-time data storage, information and alarms.
Heat stress monitoring in workplaces (WBGT and PHS indexes), to evaluate operative thermal conditions and define working exposure/rest times, Thermal stress monitoring in cold environment for indoor and outdoor workplaces to adjust clothing level and exposure times, Comfort monitoring in workplaces to determine optimal thermal conditions and Monitoring of living environments (houses, buildings) to regulate and optimise the effectiveness of Heating/Cooling systems, resulting thermal comfort and energy saving.
