Drinking Water

Ground-breaking solution to bacterial analysis in drinking water offers a quicker and economical solution without compromising on precision

At the recent IFAT Fair in Munich, Microbium impressed visitors with their unique solution to bacterial contamination in water pipes. Testing the water supply for dangerous bacterium is a necessary but expensive and time-consuming task. Until now water was sampled and then tested in labs to ensure public safety – but Microbium are offering a quicker, easier, and far more economical alternative.

Microbium® MPN Analyser is the world’s first digitised and automated smart-sensor driven instrument to perform this task onsite, thus cutting costs by approximately 90% - and reducing the economical waiting times for results considerably. The device is simple to operate, and the process is completed in four easy steps: the operator mixes a reagent with a sample of water, pours the solution into the analyser, waits for 3 – 24 hours and then reads the result (in CFU per ml). This unique device conforms to ISO 9308-2 and can detect a single cell in 100 ml of water, is able to differentiate between Escherichia coli and other coliform bacteria and also presents an environmentally-friendly way to monitor for these dangerous bacterium, as there is zero waste, unlike when determining bacterial content in a laboratory.
