Ambient Air Analysis with FTIR
Sep 08 2008
Gasmet Technologies (Finland) is a manufacturer of FTIR gas analyzers for demanding industrial gas monitoring applications. The latest addition to the Gasmet product family is the Gasmet Dx-4030, which is the first truly portable FTIR gas analyzer on the market.
With Gasmet Dx-4030 no sample preparation is needed; the sample gas is drawn into the analyzer with a built-in pump and a particle filter. Unlikely some other portable FTIR`s, the Gasmet Dx-4030 does not require to pre-concentrate the sample with a thermal desorption tube. This ensures nearly instantaneous response times.
The Gasmet Dx-4030 is able to monitor simultaneously concentrations of up to 25 compounds in surrounding air. The user has also the option to transfer the measurement data to a laptop, where it can be further analyzed with the help of an extensive spectral library. For example, previously unknown / non-calibrated compounds can be identified based on their unique IR – spectrum.
GASMET Dx-4030 FEATURES:
• Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis
º Identification of both organic & inorganic compounds
º Multi-compound analysis as standard (max. 25 compounds analyzed
simultaneously with Calcmet Lite)
º Cross-interferences automatically compensated for in the analysis
º Possibility to store sample spectra for post-measurement analysis with Laptop PC and Calcmet Pro (250 compound chemical library available for identification of unknowns)
º Low levels of detection and quantification
• Low operating costs
º No sensors etc. that would need replacing on regular basis
º Corrosion & contamination resistant materials
º Calibration checks are not needed; only zero calibration with nitrogen or air once per day
• Quick to set-up & straightforward to use
º Absolutely no sample preparation needed
º Battery operated
º Truly portable solution – user can move freely in the measurement site
