PPC Regulations - Northern Ireland

The Pollution Prevention and Control (Industrial Emissions) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012 (SR 2012/453) came into force on January the 6th. They implement the EU's Industrial Emissions Directive (2010/75/EU) which takes account of a review of the implementation of the EU's 2008 IPPC Directive as well as incorporating a number of other EU measures on industrial pollution (including those on waste incineration, large combustion plant and solvent emissions).

The current NI PPC Regulations as amended, together with Regulations on waste incineration and solvent emissions will be repealed on 7 January 2014; the NI LCP Regulations will be repealed on 1 January 2016.

The Industrial Pollution Control (Prescribed Processes and Substances) (NI) Regulations 1998 (which implemented the original integrated pollution control regime) and the Control of Asbestos in the Air (NI) Regulations 1993 are repealed with immediate effect.
