New Thermo Scientific Orion Star A214 pH/ISE Benchtop Meter
Sep 12 2012
ISE testing can be complicated enough. There’s no need to add a difficult meter into the mix. With its advanced, but easy-to-use features, the Thermo Scientific Orion Star A214 pH/ISE Benchtop Meter is made to be the second hardest worker in the lab – after you.
Calibration may seem difficult, but this meter makes it easier. Calibration prompts and the ability to fix pH and ISE calibration errors before storing promote accurate testing. After you view your calibration data, if a mistake was made during calibration, calibration editing allows you to correct calibration errors before saving. Calibration editing saves time while ensuring accurate results and without the need to repeat all the steps, it’s especially beneficial in a multipoint calibration. For pH calibration, up to five points can be stored with automatic buffer recognition for USA/NIST and DIN buffers. Custom buffers are also accepted. For ISE calibration, calibrate up to 5 points. Advanced features such as timed end point, linear point-to-point, non-linear selectable auto-blank and low-concentration range stability make short work of even low ion concentration samples. During calibration and testing, having a homogenous sample is important, which is why the meter has an Orion Star stirrer port. With the Orion Star stirrer probe (sold separately or included in certain kits) this allows for sample mixing to be controlled directly by the meter and simultaneously with the reading.
Even with the advanced benefits, simplicity is key. The interface starts with the large, backlit graphic LCD display, which works perfectly in limited light, bright light and anywhere you may have lab space. The friendly, local language interface – choose from English, Spanish, German, Italian, French and Chinese – makes testing quick and easy with repeatable results. Plain language prompts let anyone use the meter immediately, without instructions. Its informative display shows the main pH or ISE reading with corresponding mV input and temperature temperature simultaneously. Helpful icons on the display show pH electrode status, time, date, sample ID, user ID and calibration points. The prompting also allows for easy transfer of the time/date stamped readings from the non-volatile, 2000 datalog memory. Easily send results to your computer, LIMS or software wedge program with the RS232 and USB communication ports.
The redesigned accessories also help simplify testing. The Orion Star A214 pH/ISE benchtop meter includes a redesigned electrode holder. The redesigned holder head fits a variety of electrodes and probes, making for easy maintenance and less risk of damage to your electrodes. The center slot fits the Orion Star stirrer probe, for sample mixing without worry. A specific 20-degree angled slot makes it easy to keep gas-sensing ISE at the proper testing angle.
The Orion Star A214 pH/ISE Benchtop Meter is available as meter only or simply order the complete kit with probe and solutions to get everything you need for immediate testing. Kits specific for ammonia, fluoride and sodium testing are also available. The Orion Star A214 pH/ISE Benchtop Meter’s easy-to-use interface and advanced features make it an ideal choice for dedicated ISE analysis.
