    MCERTS goes international

About 10 years ago, the Environment Agency of England and Wales established its monitoring certification scheme (MCERTS) and the part of the scheme which relates to performance criteria and test procedures for Continuous Emission Monitors (CEMs) has now been incorporated into a European standard EN 15267-3. The development of this and other standards will be the subject of Rick Gould’s presentation at the ’MCERTS 2009’ Conference near Burton on Trent, 29th and 30th April 2009.

The publication of EN 15267-3 is a major achievement because previously a number of different schemes had evolved in Europe, so the development of this standard will unify performance levels, testing and certification for CEMs internationally. In 2000, the Environment Agency and the German Federal Environment Agency worked together to align their respective schemes. The aligned schemes created the foundation for EN 15267-3.   Meanwhile, MCERTS 2009 will adopt a similar format to previous events with an exhibition featuring almost all of the world’s leading suppliers of monitoring equipment and services. The MCERTS Conference, which is repeated on both days, will provide the latest guidance on issues relating to legislation and monitoring standards, and a wide range of workshops will deliver practical help and advice on issues relating to the monitoring of emissions to air. Further information on the conference presentations and workshop titles is available at www.mcerts.uk.com
