Low-Flow Sampling Pump for Thermal Desorption
Mar 28 2013
Markes International (UK) has announced the launch of the ACTI-VOC low-flow sampling pump specifically for thermal desorption tubes.
ACTI-VOC is a robust low-flow pump for sampling vapour-phase organic compounds (VOCs) onto sorbent tubes for subsequent analysis by thermal desorption (TD)–GC(MS). Being lightweight, easy-to-use and intrinsically safe, ACTI-VOC is ideal for personal monitoring and a wide range of other air and gas sampling applications. Unlike other personal monitoring pumps on the market, ACTI-VOC is optimised for sampling onto TD tubes, and automatically compensates for different impedances, ensuring constant flow rates whatever the sorbent packing.
ACTI-VOC is compatible with sampling into any thermal desorption tube, up to a maximum flow of 350 mL/min. Importantly for the analyst, it uses the latest technology to automatically compensate for tubes of different impedances, ensuring outstandingly consistent flow rates whatever the sorbent packing.
Steve Oldfield, Markes’ Consumables Product Manager, says that “unlike other personal air monitoring pumps, ACTI-VOC is tailored specifically to the needs of TD users and shows exceptional repeatability, saving the trouble of calibrating the pump for every tube”. He added “Markes already offers the world’s widest range of high-performance TD tubes and accessories. ACTI-VOC provides a perfect complement and we are delighted to include it in our product portfolio”.
Markes International are specialists in thermal desorption technology and innovation, specialising in the manufacture and supply of cryogen-free thermal desorption instrumentation, sampling accessories, and consumables for VOC and SVOC monitoring.
