Airborne Particulate Monitoring
Aug 23 2010
Monitoring particle pollution in air can be a challenging task. Unlike pollutant gases which are well defined compounds, particulate pollution is a mixture of compounds which can exist in various physical states.
Current air quality legislation requires the measurement of all particulate matter (PM) in terms of mass per cubic meter of air. However many specialists believe that the number of particles and their chemical composition are just as important as mass in terms of health effects.
At Air Monitors (UK) we have many years experience in the supply and support of monitoring technology for PM mass both by manual gravimetric and automated techniques such as TEOM/FDMS, Beta Attenuation and Optical Scattering. We strive to provide the best available technology based on the latest science and we recently introduced a new range of multi wavelength Nephelometers featuring integral back scatter measurement from Ecotech, a Nano particle (20nm-300nm) counter from Phillips Aerasense and optical PM monitors for fixed and personal monitoring from Thermo Fisher. We also offer instruments designed to identify specific particulate substances, such as elemental carbon (soot) and heavy metals. If you have an application for any type of particle monitoring why not contact us and check out our wide range of monitoring technologies.
